Former Rockland J.C. Penney worker accused of stealing more than $3,000 from store

ROCKLAND, Maine — A former employee of J.C. Penney has been charged with stealing more than $3,000 from the department store in Rockland.

Christina Smith, 39, of Cushing was charged May 16 with felony theft, according to Rockland Police Sgt. Don Finnegan.

Detective Russ Thompson investigated the case and determined that Smith had been pocketing money from online returns, Finnegan said.
