Winslow police are asking the public to help find and identify a young woman who left these clothes behind near Two Cent Bridge on Saturday.

WINSLOW, Maine — Winslow police say the woman who sparked a search of the Kennebec River Saturday after clothes were found near the Two Cent Bridge came forward last night.

Winslow Patrol Officer Brandon Lund says a bicyclist saw a young woman near the bridge around 2 p.m. Saturday. When the biker returned to the area 10 minutes later, the young woman was gone but her clothes were folded neatly in a pile, according to police.

On Sunday, police said the woman’s mother saw coverage of the search on the news, recognized the clothes and brought her 24-year-old daughter to the police station. Police are not releasing the name of the woman and indicated she may have left the clothes by the bridge for someone else.

Winslow police, Maine game wardens, and Winslow fire and rescue crews searched the water below the Two Cent Bridge.
