Karl B. Poole Sr.

AUGUSTA – Karl B. Poole Sr., 75, of Augusta, died May 15, 2014 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive after an extended illness. He was born in Blanchard, July 18, 1938, the son of Edgar H. Poole and Margarite M. (Bartlett) Poole.

Mr. Poole was a 1958 graduate of Monson Academy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by McGee’s, State of Maine, Enterprise Car Rentals after working at Statler Tissue Co. in Augusta for 23 ½ years. Mr. Poole was a member of the Maine Harness Horseman’s Association, the National Rifle Association and a ten-year member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. He enjoyed horse racing, dog racing and car racing. He was a huge Celtics, Red Sox and Patriot’s fan. Karl loved being outside, hunting, fishing, and laying in the sun. Karl’s final years were spent at Glenridge where he was well taken care of and impressed all those around him. He really enjoyed his final years.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Marlene Poole. Surviving are two daughters, Laurie Pelletier and her husband, Mark of Augusta, and Valerie Williams and her husband, Jeffrey of Augusta; one son, Karl B. Poole, Jr. and his wife, Heidi of Sidney; six grandchildren: Justin and Ryon Pelletier, Keegan and Kennedy Brooks, and Michael and Mary Poole; and one great-grandson, Kole Taylor.

Friends may visit from 9-11 a.m. Friday, May 23rd at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where funeral and committal prayers will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Road Cemetery, Monson. Condolences, photos and memories may be shared at www.plummerfh.com.
