Hazel May (Gray) Mason

VEAZIE AND LINCOLN – Hazel Mason, 95, wife of the late John Mason, died May 12, 2014, at Orono Commons, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Pearl C. and Jennie (Folsom) Gray.

She graduated from Howland High School and worked at various department stores in Bangor and at the University of Maine. She was a past member of Ammadamast Grange, Enfield, past chief of Arcadia Temple, Pythian Sisters, Brewer; past worthy matron, Lincoln Chapter O.E.S. and life member of Millwee Chapter, O.E.S., Orrington. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Enfield.

Hazel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Averill of Veazie; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Loretta Mason of Bangor; grandchildren, Andrea Cope, Van Averill, Cathy Schulz, Tammy MacEachern, John Mason and Jennie Asher; great-grandsons, Charles, Thomas and James Cope, Philip Vicnaire and Dustin Averill, Jeffrey and Wyatt Schulz, Kevin Lemieux and Kyle Mason. She was predeceased by her husband, John Mason; infant son, Lloyd; brother, Edward Gray; and sisters, Audrey Gray and Myra Gray.

Honoring Hazel’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours nor services. Burial will be in Enfield Village Cemetery.
