ROCKLAND, Maine — A 28-year-old woman spent the weekend at the Knox County Jail after police said she scratched and bit her ex-boyfriend who had dumped a cold beverage on her head.

Laura J. Walsh of Swanville was charged with domestic violence assault after the incident that occurred early Saturday morning. According to an affidavit filed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, an officer responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home in Friendship.

The male victim told police that Walsh had consumed 10 to 12 shots of tequila, and she fell asleep at his place while he gathered her belongings. The man said he tried to wake her, but she would not get up, so he dumped a cold beverage on her head, hoping that would wake her.

Walsh awoke and attacked him, including biting him near his eye, according to the affidavit.

She made her initial appearance Monday in Rockland District Court, where Judge Susan Sparaco set bail at $500 unsecured.
