WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bangor International Airport and Princeton Municipal Airport are set to receive nearly $1 million in federal funding for airport safety and facility improvements, U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud announced Friday.

The Federal Aviation Administration grants include $795,000 for BIA to restore an access road in front of a terminal and more than $161,000 for a new runway lighting system at Princeton Municipal Airport.

“These funds allow for airports in our area to make much-needed improvements that will boost safety and convenience for everyone who flies in and out of Bangor or Princeton,” Michaud said in a prepared statement. “The safety of those traveling through our state — whether it’s taking off from the runway or having an accessible road to a terminal — must always be a top priority.”
