Mildred “Millie” Balthis

MANCHESTER, IL – Mildred “Millie” Balthis, 80, of Manchester, Ill., and formerly of East Corinth, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 3, 2014, at her son’s home in Manchester, Ill. She was born Nov. 25, 1933, in Exeter, the daughter of Harvard Preble and Marguerite Batchelder Tate.
Ms. Balthis is survived by three children, Dale Marie (husband, Rev. Dan) Rockwell of Linden, Pa., Laurie (husband, Rev. Clyde) McCaskill of Schaghticoke, N.Y., and Rev. Larry (wife, Tami) Balthis of Manchester, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Mindy (husband, Jason) Wolfe, Matt Rockwell, Mark (wife, Jocelyn) Rockwell, Lacey (husband, Bryan) Bentley, Tyler (wife, Sharon) McCaskill, Trent (wife, Ashley) McCaskill, Ryan Balthis, Zachary Balthis, and Torrance Balthis; nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, her twin, Hildred (husband, Mickey) Chesley of Warner-Robbins, Ga., Lois (husband, Neil) Crane of Dexter, and Pearl (deceased husband, Wilburt) Campbell of Bangor; and one brother, Kenneth (wife, Beverly) Tate of Corinth. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gale, and one sister, Sandra Blackwell (surviving husband, Earl of Levant).
Ms. Balthis was a Registered Nurse for many years, retiring from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor. She moved to Manchester, Ill., in August of 2003 to be near her family. Millie loved flowers and gardening, quilting, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She cherished her family and enjoyed keeping up with them on Facebook.
A visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Ill. Services and burial will be held later this year in Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Manchester Baptist Church. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
