Arthur V. Libby Jr.

CORINTH – Arthur V. Libby Jr., 63, went home to be with the Lord, May 4, 2014 surrounded by his loving wife and family after a 6 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Arthur was born in Charleston, Feb. 7, 1951, son of the late Arthur and Floss (Chase) Libby.

Arthur graduated from Higgins Classical Institute and went on to graduate as a civil engineer from the University of Maine at Orono. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet Arnold, Oct. 15, 1971. Arthur’s dream was to farm and after working as an engineer for many years, in 1982 he purchased the Elliot Dairy Farm in Corinth. Family and friends were a priority to Arthur. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that was always surrounded by someone he loved. His love of horses and horse pulling gave him many friends that he cherished dearly. He enjoyed snowmobiling from which many great memories with his family and friends were made. Arthur’s advocacy of quality education lead him to a 25 year seat on the local school board and as a devoted farmer, he served for many years on the Farm Service Committee.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janet; loving children, Jennifer Mitchell and husband, Gavin of Corinth, Alana Crawford and husband, Tony of Milford, NH, Justin Libby and wife, Elizabeth of Corinth, and Alyssa Michaud and husband, Nick of China, ME; 13 grandchildren, Aaron Partridge, Libby Crawford, Devon Crawford, Lilly Crawford, Abby Crawford, Jared Crawford, Will Libby, Brody Libby, James Crawford, Lane Mitchell, Wyatt Michaud, Whitney Michaud, and Audrey Libby; his brothers, Andy and wife, Jodi, and Albert and wife, Debbie; sisters, Linda Peacock and husband, Doug and Joan Libby; his mother-in-law, Marice Arnold; brother-in-law, Gary Arnold and wife, Nancy; sisters-in-law, Theolyn Staples and husband, Peter, Paulette Trafton and husband, Harold, and Durice Washburn and husband, Mark; as well as a close cousin, Allen Chase and wife, Bonnie, and many extended family members and friends too numerous to mention.

Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at Charleston Church, 185 Main Road, Charleston, with Pastor Matthew Ward officiating.
