BREWER — Maddy Bailey’s two-run home run in the fifth inning provided the winning margin for Brewer in a 4-3 high school softball victory over Mt. Ararat of Topsham on Tuesday.
Brewer jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Meg Davis reached on a bunt single and scored on a throwing error. Mt. Ararat tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Devon Hutchins.
Brewer made it 2-1 in the third when Bailey scored on an error. The Eagles scored two runs in the fifth.

At Bangor, Emily Reilly scattered four hits, struck out eight and walked one in the Rams’ win over the Cougars.
Alexis Stanhope singled twice and drove in two runs, including one in 1-1 Bangor’s six-run third inning. Sydni Cosgrove and Kyle Cunningham each provided two singles and an RBI.
Destiny Nelson hit an RBI single for 1-2 Mt. Blue of Farmington’s only run.

Paige Gillespie whacked 2 doubles and single for Calais and Maddy McVicar doubled and singled. Kaylee Johnson posted three singles and Kate Cundiff doubled twice for the winners.
Angel Lyons hit a triple for Machias to support losing pitcher Makayla Prout, who struck out five and walked two.

Cooper Henderson paced Ellsworth with two singles, while Brandon Braley and Hunter Cote doubled.
