Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident on Route 1A in Holden on Monday morning.

HOLDEN, Maine — Officials are investigating a single-vehicle accident on Route 1A on Monday morning.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m., according to Holden Police Chief Gene Worcester.

Only one vehicle was involved in the accident, Worcester said at the scene just south of the Holden Elementary School.

Worcester declined to release the name of the driver, citing an open investigation.

“We got a call of a vehicle all over the road,” the chief said. “It almost hit a couple vehicles head-on.”

The driver was heading toward Bar Harbor at the time of the accident and ended up in a ditch off the northbound side of the road. The driver was not seriously injured.

Traffic on Route 1A was tied up throughout the morning, while crews attempted to get the vehicle, a blue sedan, out of the ditch.
