Judith Ann Pines Blaisdell

MONMOUTH – Judith Ann Pines Blaisdell, 63, a resident of Monmouth died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at MGLTC – Glenridge in Augusta. Judy was born Feb. 20, 1951 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., the daughter of Philip Pines, MD and Susan J. Pines.
Judy attended public schools in Limestone, where the family relocated in 1952. She graduated from Limestone High School as Salutatorian in 1969 and Bates College in 1973. At Bates, Judy met her future husband, Brian K. Blaisdell. They married at the chapel at Bates College on Dec. 28, 1974. While her husband finished his law degree at Maine Law, Judy worked for the Portland School Department as a child psychological tester. Later the couple settled in Monmouth, and started a family. In 1975 Brian became an attorney for the State of Maine and Judy worked as a legislative proofreader, a career she pursued for 18 years, while raising her family. Judy was caring and an amazing mother. She loved to cook, garden, crochet and knit. She was an avid reader, visiting the Monmouth Public Library at least twice a week.
Judy was predeceased by her husband in 1988 and her father in 1975. She is survived by her four children and three grandchildren: Karen Day and her husband, Michael, of North Monmouth; Jason and his wife, Angela, of Williamsburg, Va.; James of Augusta, and Merrick and his wife, Michelle Ouellette, of Charlottesville, Va., as well as grandchildren, Tia Day, Tyler Day, and Brandon Blaisdell. Additionally she is survived by her mother, Susan J. Pines of Hallowell, a brother, Jack Pines and his wife, Susan of Palo Alto, Calif., her sister-in law, Trudy Paleschi and her husband, Larry, of Monmouth, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Glenridge and the Hospice unit who cared for Judy.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17th, at Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, 707 Main St., Monmouth.
