George Raymond Chatfield

TAMPA – George passed away peacefully at home April 23, 2014. He was born on June 5, 1929 at North Vassalborro, Maine to William Wendell Chatfield and Mildred O’Brien Chatfield.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Ann Cole Chatfield, whom he married on May 11, 1957 at Glenburn, Maine.
George is also survived by his sister, Betty Louise Chatfield, brother-in-law David A. Cole, sister-in-law Ernestine Cole and sister-in-law Jean Megquier, nephews, grand nephews and grand nieces. He is also survived by a very special cat, Bailey.
Prior to moving to Tampa, FL in 1978, George lived in Penobscot, Maine and Brewer, Maine. Upon his marriage to Ann, they lived in Glenburn, Maine where he built their first home. He was employed by Beacon Motor Company for 23 years.
During his working years in Tampa, George was self employed with Chatfield Carpentry & Painting Service. He enjoyed the work and met many great people.
He enjoyed visits to their cottage in Milbridge on the coast of Maine. He loved both Maine and Florida. In retirement, George was an avid reader and enjoyed working in his shop and traveling extensively in the U.S. and Canada.
George was a kind, thoughtful, honest, hardworking man.
