Rev. Gerard E. Pelletier, S.M.

BOSTON – Rev. Gerard E. Pelletier, S.M. of Boston died Monday, April 21, 2014 in Marian Manor, South Boston. He was 81. Fr. Pelletier was born in Van Buren, Aug. 19, 1932, a son of the late Onezime and Zeline Pelletier.
He attended Van Buren Boy’s High and graduated from Marvyale Seminary in Bedford, Mass., in 1950. On Feb. 2, 1960, he was ordained a priest in Washington D.C. Serving as a priest for over 54 years, Fr. Pelletier had served in a number of parishes throughout New England. He had also served as Chaplain at various hospitals including Pilgrim State Hospital in West Brentwood, N.Y., Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Conn., Saint Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, Conn., and Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn. For the past 10 years he had served as Chaplain at Sacred Heart Manor for the Sister Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Hampden, Connecticut.
In addition to the Marist Community, he leaves his sister, Lillian Gagnon of Van Buren, and by many nieces and nephews, including Glen Gagnon and Terry Robertson.
Family and friends will honor and remember Father Pelletier’s life by gathering to visit 9 a.m. Friday, April 25th, at Our Lady of Victories Church, 27 Isabella Street, Boston, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Maine at a later date.
