Brenda Carol (Allen) Badger

HAMPDEN – Brenda Carol (Allen) Badger, dearly loved wife of Philip Badger, Jr., passed away April 20, 2014, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Brenda was a lifelong resident of Hampden and a graduate of Hampden Academy and the University of Maine at Farmington. She was a competent and successful business person and was actively involved in the company management as chief financial officer of two family businesses. Having grown up with three boys, she became an accomplished athlete, lettering in softball and basketball while attending high school. Had they allowed girls to play football back then, there is no doubt she would have lettered in that as well. She once held the title of Maine State Girls Rifle champion at the same time her father held a similar title as Maine State Pistol champion – a feat which became the subject of a news article by noted sports columnist Bud Leavitt. Brenda had a deep appreciation of Maine and its seasons and loved the outdoors, spending time at camp or around their pool at home and enjoyed being active by horseback riding, snowmobiling, and playing golf.
Brenda will be greatly missed and in addition to her husband, is survived by her parents, Carroll and Geneva Allen; her children and respective spouses, Kelley and Chris Carson, Philip and Amy Badger; brothers and respective spouses, Roy and Tracey Allen, Edward and Lorraine Allen; sister-in-law, Bonnie Allen; brother-in-law, David and Diana Badger; special grandson, Aubrey Badger and several other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; close friends, Tanya Kinney, Cindy Fogg, Valerie Jameson; Molly, the much feared feline, and grand dog Tucker. Brenda was predeceased by her brother, Dennis Allen and stepson, Paul Badger. The family would like to express their profound appreciation to the many nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals who treated and cared for Brenda during her illness.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. The family would be pleased if you would join them in a celebration of Brenda’s life to be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Geaghan’s Restaurant, 570 Main St., Bangor. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Brenda C. Badger Memorial Fund, C/O Key Bank, Attn: Lisa McGinley, 23 Water Street, Bangor, ME 04401. Messages of condolences and memories may be shared through www.hampdengilpatrick.com.
