Vassalboro man accused of biting girlfriend’s ear during argument

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

WATERVILLE, Maine — A fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend at a nightclub early Thursday morning culminated with a Vassalboro man’s arrest after allegedly biting the woman’s ear, police said.

Benjamin Lajoie, 23, had been asked to leave Champions nightclub shortly after biting the woman during an argument, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.

The bite caused the woman’s ear to bleed, but she was not seriously injured, Rumsey said.

After security asked Lajoie to leave the bar after he was acting unruly, he became combative and refused to cooperate but bouncers held him down until police could arrive, Rumsey said.

Officers learned of the assault on the woman after speaking with witnesses who had seen Lajoie and the woman arguing, the deputy chief said.

Lajoie was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence assault and criminal trespass. He was released on bail from the Waterville police station and has a May 6 court date.
