WATERVILLE, Maine — A drunken Fairfield man found wandering a deserted Main Street and yelling early Thursday morning was arrested after police learned he smashed a window at a local business.
Lance Huff, 37, was observed by a witness smashing out a glass entryway window of Framemakers, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
Huff had been wandering the streets alone yelling at people he thought were there, Rumsey said, but Huff was by himself the entire time.
Huff apparently also tried to break other windows with a small cooler, but was unsuccessful, Rumsey said.
The window Huff broke is valued at $5,000, Rumsey said.
When police arrived to detain Huff, he grew uncooperative, the deputy chief said, pushing against an officer while handcuffed and trying to drag them into the middle of the street, Rumsey said.
Pepper spray was used to subdue Huff, and he was eventually placed inside a cruiser.
Huff was charged with aggravated criminal mischief, a Class C felony due to the value of the window that was broken, Rumsey said.
He was brought to Kennebec County Jail following his arrest.
