CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine — A pair of Franklin County men are facing charges after two teenagers got into a traffic accident last week after the men provided them with alcohol, police said.

Decodah Brown and Christopher McLaughlin, both of Kingfield, whose ages were not available, were summoned for furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol, a Class D misdemeanor, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols said.

The accident occurred in Carrabassett Valley on April 10, according to Nichols.

Just prior to the accident, the juveniles had consumed alcohol at residences in New Portland and Kingfield, the sheriff said, and Carrabassett Valley police had asked for help in the investigation after learning the teens had consumed the alcohol.

Brown and McLaughlin were charged on Monday, while McLaughlin had been arrested on April 11 on an unrelated warrant and was issued his charge while at Franklin County Jail.

Brown and McLaughlin are scheduled to be arraigned on the alcohol charge on June 6 in Farmington District Court.
