CANTON – Harry Olaf Johnson, 71, died April 11, 2014, at his home. He was born in Springfield, Mass., August 13, 1942.
Harry attended high school at West Springfield High in Massachusetts and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, completing three tours of duty overseas. Harry married Cynthia L. Sawyer on August 19, 1972, and they shared 26 years of marriage together and three children.
After Harry was honorably discharged from the Navy, he held various jobs to provide for his family; the two for which he expressed the greatest passion were fishing and farming. Harry loved to be out to sea for months at a time, fishing what could be turbulent but always beautiful waters. As time when on Harry discovered a passion for farming. He moved to Aroostook County, Maine, and purchased a 125 acre piece of land, which he later named Moose Hill Farm.
He is survived by his eldest daughter, Audrey Jacobs and husband, Mark Jacobs, of Topsham; his only son, Torey Olaf Johnson of Canton; grandson, Anders Johnson; his youngest daughter, Stephanie Farquhar and husband, Justin Farquhar of Bangor; grandchildren, Ava and Seamus Farquhar; as well as his two older sisters, Mildred Leaning and Sylvia Stevens and husband, Bill Stevens.
