Knox County sheriff probes two home break-ins, including theft of cash on Vinalhaven

By Stephen Betts, BDN Staff

ROCKLAND, Maine — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two residential burglaries, including one in which a large amount of cash was reported stolen.

The burglary involving the cash theft occurred on Vinalhaven. The break-in was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Friday. The home was unlocked, according to the sheriff’s office.

There are suspects in that case, said Sheriff Donna Dennison. The amount of cash taken has not been disclosed.

A second burglary was reported Friday afternoon and occurred at a home off Finntown Road in Warren. The sheriff said the house had not been lived in recently. An intruder apparently damaged the home and rummaged through belongings, but there is no evidence anything was taken, the sheriff said.
