Man allegedly enters Rockport home while woman napped

By Stephen Betts, BDN Staff

ROCKPORT, Maine — Police are investigating an incident in which a woman awoke from a nap Saturday afternoon to find a strange man standing over her.

The man fled the scene after the woman screamed, according to police.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tim Carroll said the county agency responded to assist Rockport. The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. at a home on Rockville Street.

The man is reported to be heavy set, average height, and wearing a dark hoodie and a faded Boston Red Sox cap.

Police stopped one vehicle and a man walking on a nearby street but there was no information late Saturday afternoon on whether the suspect had been found. A message was left for Rockport police but it was not immediately returned.
