VEAZIE, Maine — Less than 24 hours after local police arrested a Connecticut man on burglary and numerous other charges, a handful of other home invasions were reported in town.

Veazie police Chief Mark Leonard said Friday five or six reported burglaries occurred in the area of Silver Ridge, Buck Hill, Highview and Ridgeview roads overnight Thursday and into Friday morning.

The Veazie complaints also come in the wake of reported home and vehicle invasions on the east side of Bangor earlier this week.

Leonard said among the items taken included electronics and cash. He said the suspect or suspects gained entry to homes through unlocked doors.

A couple of unlocked vehicles parked in driveways were hit as well, the chief said.

“It’s very similar to what occurred on the east side of Bangor,” said Leonard.

Leonard said police aren’t sure exactly how many suspects are involved, but he believes more than one are likely involved.

The chief is also urging residents to keep homes, garages and vehicles locked and secured, and to call 911 or Penobscot Regional Dispatch at 945-4636 to report any suspicious activity.

Anyone with further information on the Veazie burglaries is urged to call the police department at 947-2358.
