BANGOR, Maine — Residents and business owners in the city’s West Side Village neighborhood can learn about, and chime in on, the city’s plans for that part of Bangor during a meeting Wednesday evening.

The West Side revitalization effort began last year in response to residents’ concerns about public infrastructure, streets and sidewalks, crime and abandoned properties.

The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the James F. Doughty School on Fifth Street.

The city launched a series of improvement projects last fall, but much of the work will take place this construction season. The West Side Village stretches from Main Street west to Third Street and from Buck Street north to Union Street.

City officials will also take feedback on a major road and underground infrastructure project planned for Main Street this construction season. That is being headed by the Maine Department of Transportation.

The meeting had been scheduled for last month, but was postponed in anticipation of a winter storm.
