Motorcyclist hurt in collision with car in Bath

BDN staff reports

BATH, Maine — A motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a car Friday afternoon at the intersection of Oak Grove Avenue and Crawford Drive in Bath.

The crash was reported at 1:54 p.m., according to a release from Bath Police Chief Michael Field.

The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Bath whom police did not immediately identify, was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of what Field described as severe injuries.

Debbie Knowlton, 46, the driver of a 2011 Kia Sorento that collided with the motorcycle, was not injured, according to police.

Police, including a crash-reconstruction team from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating the incident. Investigators found no immediate evidence that speed or alcohol contributed to the crash, but blood-alcohol tests will be performed on both drivers, Field said.
