OLD TOWN, Maine — An Orono man was arrested last week after he allegedly followed an Old Town girl twice in the same day, according to Old Town police.

Gregory Weaver, 41, was charged with stalking and refusing to sign a summons, said Old Town police Capt. Kyle Smart.

The series of events that led to Weaver’s arrest began about 4 p.m. on Thursday of last week, when an Old Town girl who was out walking noticed a vehicle slowly following her, Smart said. Three hours later, she saw the same car following her again, he said.

“She reported it,” Smart said. “The girl had no idea who he was.”

A description of the vehicle was broadcast to area law enforcement agency and shortly afterward, Weaver’s car was spotted on Main Street by an Indian Island police officer, who contacted Old Town police.

Smart said that Weaver was not cooperative when approached by police. When told he was being charged with stalking, Weaver reportedly refused to sign the summons despite being given about half a dozen chances to do so.
