Thelma Mae (Cowan) McIver

VANCEBORO AND CALAIS – Thelma Mae (Cowan) McIver, 85, wife of the late Philip McIver, passed April 1, 2014, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 3, 1928, in McAdam, New Brunswick, the daughter of Hazel (Golding) and Leslie Cowan.

Mom’s happiest time was her life and home in Vanceboro. She enjoyed Bingo and bowling with Helen before moving to Calais. She always worked hard for all of us and her Methodist Church. We all love you, Mom, and you will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Philip, and her parents, she was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Marie Ann Tucker; her brother, Roy Cowan; and her sister, Evelyn McIver. She is survived by her sons, Philip and Marlene, Larry and Rhonda, Roger and Susan, and Randy and Kathy; her daughter, Marilyn McIver; son-in-law, Alan Tucker; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at Vanceboro Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Vanceboro Cemetery at a later date.
