HOWLAND, Maine — The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office released video surveillance images Tuesday in an effort to identify the suspect in a recent store burglary at a Howland convenience store.

The burglary occurred early Monday morning at the Handy Stop, located at 2 Bridge St. in Howland, Chief Deputy Troy Morton said Tuesday.

Morton said that the suspect smashed his or her way through the store’s front door and is seen in the video taking items from behind the counter before leaving through the same door.

The sheriff’s office is following up leads but asks for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, Morton said. Anyone with information about the burglary or who may have seen a person or people or a vehicle in the vicinity of the Handy Stop early Monday morning is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 947-4585.
