ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine’s baseball game against University of Maine at Farmington, scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions at Mahaney Diamond.

The game has been tentatively rescheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, April 3.

Maine’s opening America East series over the weekend in Orono against UMass Lowell was cancelled, but the Black Bears are scheduled for a three-game set in Orono this weekend against league foe Hartford. The teams are set for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Colby names offensive coordinator

Shane Fogarty, a former player and assistant coach for the University of Connecticut, was named offensive coordinator for the Colby College football team on Monday.

Fogarty had two assistant coaching stints at the University of Connecticut. He coached the safeties last season and also assisted with the special teams.

Fogarty was a graduate assistant for the Huskies and coached the defensive backs and linebackers for the 2010 Big East championship team and the 2011 squad.

“We couldn’t be more excited about Shane joining Colby football,” Colby head coach Jonathan Michaeles said. “He is a bright young football mind who is a great addition to our staff and will fit well into the Colby community.”

Fogarty, who earned his bachelor’s degree from Connecticut in 2006 and a master’s degree in 2012, started his coaching career at Trinity College.
