NEWBURGH – Dareatha E. Brooks, 75, passed away peacefully March 28, 2014, at a Brewer health care facility. Dareatha was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Craig, Colo., the daughter of James and Edna (Brown) Lichtenhahn.
Dareatha spent many years working in the electronics industry as an assembler and later as a CNA. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crafts, and doll collecting. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Mainly Dolls Club. Dareatha will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Dareatha is survived by her loving children, Tamara A. Toothaker and husband, Stephen, of Newburgh, and Roland A. Brooks III and wife, Dottie, of Celebration, Fla.; grandchildren, Benjamin Toothaker and wife, Julie, Sarah Toothaker and fiancé, Cliff Hawes, and Annika and Christina Brooks; great-granddaughter, Olivia Hawes; her brother, Clayton Lichtenhahn and wife, Marie; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. Dareatha was predeceased by her husband, Roland A. Brooks Jr.; her daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” E. Brooks; one sister; and five brothers.
In keeping with Dareatha’s wishes, interment will be private at a later date. Memorial contributions in Dareatha’s honor may be made to Cancer Care of Maine, care of EMHS Foundation, P.O.
