GRAY, Maine — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Down East Maine, effective through 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The weather service said that the storm warning applies to Washington and Hancock counties, which will see snow that will be heavy at times.

Wind gusts of up to 30 mph are expected, and temperatures will be in the high 20s to about 30 degrees. Visibility will be reduced to a quarter mile or less, particularly Monday evening, according to the weather service.

Motorists are urged to slow down and plan extra time to reach their destinations.
