BAR HARBOR, Maine — A 63-year-old Bar Harbor man was charged with two traffic offenses following an early morning accident Sunday, police reported.

Robert Bothen was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, according to Officer Timothy Frost. He was released on $560 bail.

Bothen’s 2003 Ford Taurus station wagon was found about 15-20 feet in the woods off Route 3 about 500 yards north of Hadley’s Point Campground, said Frost.

The car went off the road into a wooded area and eventually rolled onto the passenger side around midnight, according to Frost.

Bothen was not injured and was alone at the time, said Frost.

Police were summoned to the scene after the vehicle was discovered about 6:30 a.m.

The car was a total loss, said Frost.
