OGUNQUIT, Maine — A driver stopped to let a pedestrian cross Route 1 in front of Annie’s Irish Pub Monday afternoon was rear-ended by another driver, police said.

Ogunquit Sgt. Mike Faia said 55-year-old Peter Caradonna was traveling on Route 1 around 3:15 Monday afternoon when he stopped his 2007 BMW X3 to allow a pedestrian to cross in front of him. Faia said that’s when 21-year-old Caitlyn walsh of Kennebunk rear-ended him with her 2004 Toyota Corolla.

“The gentleman was transported to the hospital with a complaint of pain,” Faia said, noting that Caradonna was taken to York Hospital. He said his passenger, 46-year-old Doreen Heyland of York, traveled with him in the ambulance.

Faia said the police are still investigating the accident.
