Rumford man accused of possessing child pornography

RUMFORD, Maine — A 41-year-old local man is facing a child pornography charge after his arrest on Thursday, state police said.

Jeremy Vashaw was taken into custody without incident at his home, according to state police spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Vashaw, who works at Sunday River, is also on Rumford’s town budget committee, according to McCausland.

Vashaw’s computer was seized in December by police and his arrest occurred after the computer’s contents were analyzed by police and hundreds of images of children were found.

Vashaw was charged with dissemination of sexually explicit material of persons under age 12 and brought to Oxford County Jail.
