Sangerville man taken to hospital after being pinned between vehicles at public works garage

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

DEXTER, Maine — A man avoided serious injury Tuesday when he was accidentally pinned between his loader and a grader operator at the town’s public works garage, police said.

Eric Campbell, 45, of Sangerville was getting out of his loader shortly before 1 p.m. when the accident occurred, Dexter police Chief Kevin Wintle said.

After Campbell parked his loader in the garage, a grader operator who was backing up pinned him between the two vehicles, Wintle said.

The name of the man driving the other vehicle was not disclosed, but he was able to recognize that Campbell was pinned quickly and pull his vehicle forward, likely preventing more serious injury.

Campbell was transported to Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft before being transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Wintle said his injuries are not considered life threatening.

The incident remains under investigation.
