Malcolm D. Lane Sr.

OAKFIELD – Malcolm “Mack” David Lane Sr., 70, born Oct. 14, 1943, to Willis and Alice Ryan Lane died peacefully March 16, 2014, with loving family by his side. He graduated from Island Falls High School in 1962.

Mack was a wonderful husband, adored father and a loyal friend to everyone he met. He was a jack of all trades. He was a carpenter, furnace man, truck driver and an entrepreneur. He established Oakfield Citgo, where he made many friends. Everyone always got a big smile, friendly service and a positive comment from him.

He devoted his life to his wife and children. His passion was spending time with his family, especially summers at Spaulding Lake. Family gatherings were of great importance to him. Aside from his family, there are many of his friends who will miss him greatly. It’s been said that there is not a person that did not adore Mack Lane.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Perlene Burpee Lane of Oakfield; his mother, Alice Ryan Lane of Island Falls; his mother-in-law, Rita Bragdon Burpee of Smyrna; daughters, Sonya Moleon of Wells, Tracy Bishop of Brewer, Allison Reynolds of Phippsburg, and Tanya Barnett of Umatilla, Fla.; and his sons, Torry Lane of Oakfield, and Troy Bishop of Smyrna. He is also survived by many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Malcolm was predeceased by his father, Willis Lane; his brother, Billy Lane; and his brother, Martin Lane. He was also predeceased by his son, Malcolm D. Lane Jr.; and his granddaughter, Kristi M. Hall.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
