Ellen M. Weeks

ATKINSON – Ellen M. Weeks, 91, died March 22, 2014, at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Nathan and Delelah (Walton) Sparks.

Ellen met the love of her life, Arley Weeks, while working in a little restaurant in Dexter. Not long after they met he left for the war. Three years later after returning from the war they were married, and had two children, Donna and Mike.

They lived most of their lives in Maine, but lived for a short time in Massachusetts, where Arley worked on houses. They also had a restaurant and campground in Ashby, Mass. In 1966, they returned to Maine, and she worked at Hathaway Shirt in Dover-Foxcroft, until her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arley N. Weeks; a daughter, Donna (Weeks) Kimball; and a son, Michael Weeks; and siblings, Mabel, Amber, Edith, Grace, and Al. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Terry Weeks and her fiancé, Charles O’Brien, of Atkinson; a son-in-law, Walter Kimball of Atkinson; a sister-in-law, Dellas McCann; a brother-in-law, Philip Weeks; special grandchildren, Steve Kimball and wife, Juli, Shelly Weeks and fiancé, Steve Lacroix, and Scott Kimball; special great-grandchildren, Colby Kimball, Ashlie Page, Kelsy Lacroix, Jessica Kimball, and Ethen Carmichael; and several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to all of the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home and to the Hospice nurses, who cared for her.

Spring graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
