Tara Hill and Trevor England of Buzzards Bay, Mass., won the 2014 Real Maine Wedding of the Year contest.

A couple from Massachusetts was announced as the winner of this year’s Real Maine Wedding of the Year contest and will begin planning their “dream” wedding valued at $100,000, which will take place in October in Bethel.

Bride-to-be Tara Hill and groom-to-be Trevor England are from Buzzards Bay, Mass., and will work with Amber Small, owner of Sweetest Thing event planning. The pair was the winner of the competition’s video contest, which asked couples to create a video about why they would want to have a wedding at the selected location.

“The competition this year between the three finalists was tough,” Melanie Brooks, editor of Real Maine Weddings, said in a Monday press release. “We really had to crunch the numbers in order to find out who came out on top.”

In their video, both Hill and England talk about their love of Maine and fond memories of visiting as children.

The contest, run by Maine-based magazine Real Maine Weddings, is in its fourth year. Each year, a different Maine community hosts the event.

The public will be allowed to vote on certain parts of the wedding including gown selection, wedding party attire, cake and rings. If you are interested, you can follow the planning at realmaineweddings.com/contest.

Dozens of businesses have signed up to participate in this year’s wedding, including Bethel-based photographers, farms, spas and bakeries.

Next year’s contest location also was announced and the 2015 Real Maine Wedding is slated to be held in Camden, Rockland and Rockport. Check out the Real Maine Weddings website for information about how to submit a video entry.
