Russell J. Card

MILLINOCKET – Russell J. Card, 77, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at a Millinocket hospital, with family by his side. He was born May 28, 1936, in Bangor, the son of Evelyn M. (Boardway) Card.

Russell loved to hunt and fish, as well as spend time with his family. He will be remembered by many for his portrayals of Santa Claus, and also for his dressing up as a clown for the Fourth of July parade. In recent years, he made and sold walking sticks at area festivals and gatherings. Russell impacted many lives, and his impact will be lasting with his many mutual friends of Bill W.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Theresa (LeBlond) Card, who was the love of his life; children, Tishy Pendergast (granddaughter) and her husband, Josh, Danny Card and his wife, Regan, Terrence Hamilton, Theresa Brooks, Rhonda Hamilton, Robert Hamilton and his wife, Suzie, and Robin Hamilton; 10 very special grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Boardway and his wife, Marny; a sister, Barbara Sanborn; two sisters-in-law, Pat Cox, and Irma Hanington; a brother-in-law, Donald LeBlond and his wife, Julie; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Russell will also be missed by his many animal friends. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his best friend, Jessie the Black Lab; and many dear friends.

Russell will be missed by many close friends, Dick C., Darrell C., and Bob Cutliffe. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Millinocket Regional Hospital for the loving care, special courtesies and considerations given to Russell and his family.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Spring interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Russell may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O.
