NEWCASTLE – Jeanne McPherson died peacefully March 15, 2014, at the Lincoln Home in Newcastle. Born May 18, 1921, in Newark, N.J., Jeanne was the daughter of John and Jennie (Moreland) Meyer.
Jeanne lived in Marblehead, Mass., for many years, then in 2000 she moved to New Harbor to be close to her daughter and son-in-law. Wherever Jeanne lived, art was a focal point of her life. Photography and watercolor were her favorite mediums. One of her favorite memories was of her annual week-long trips with two of her favorite artist friends, Lucy and Nordia. They would come to Maine where they would rent a cottage to paint, tell stories and laugh.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Murray Burns “Sandy” McPherson, her one true love and best friend. She is survived by her daughter, Mary McPherson and her husband, Jon LeVeen, of New Harbor; her (AFS) daughter, Mirady Sebastiani and her husband, Victor Vasquez, of Caracas, Venezuela; Mirady and Victor’s children, Leopoldo and Ximena, and their grandson, Rodrigo.
At Jeanne’s request, no service will be held. Friends who wish to make a donation in her memory are encouraged to support a favorite arts or environmental group. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
