Ivan W. Hawkins

WESLEY – Ivan, 64, passed away March 18, 2014, surrounded by his family. Ivan was born Sept. 12, 1949, in Machias, to Wesley and Marguerite (Sprague) Hawkins.

He graduated from Machias High School and worked at Shoppee’s Dairy and Gay’s Shop n’ Save. Retired from ME DOT after 27 plus years. Not being able to sit still he went back to work in the Blueberry and Wreathing Industry with Herb Hanscom, a special friend. Ivan enjoyed, gardening, ice fishing, working in his Maple Sugar Shack, family gatherings, driving his tractor and working in the woods. He was a member of the Wesley Historical Society and Wesley Cemetery Association.

Ivan is survived by his wife, Camille of 43 years; daughter, Jennifer; son, Andrew; three grandchildren, Layne, Tannis, and Madison; sister, Bonnie and family; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Don and Diane. Ivan was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Robert.

A Day of Remembrance will be held 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Wesley Elementary School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wesley Historical Society, care of Carola Nickerson, Historian, 4248 Airline Road, Wesley, ME 04686.
