MILO – Gary P. Grant, 58, joined his parents and siblings in heaven, March 20, 2014, at a Bangor hospital, with his wife and family by his side. He was born Jan. 30, 1956, in Milo, the youngest son of Arthur and Etta (Doan) Grant.
Gary loved music and was a wonderful singer and guitar player. He loved family gatherings where he would play and sing, entertaining all in attendance. He especially loved singing and playing with his sister, Georgia, and brother, Terry. Gary played in a local band for a time and later retired from the Highway Department for the Town of Brownville.
He is survived by his wife, Robbie Grant of Milo; and his daughters, Jennifer Sinclair of Charleston, Michelle Babin and husband, Bret, of Brownville, and Andrea Witham of Milo. Gary is also survived by a son, Daniel and daughter, Tracy and her family, raised in Belfast by the Mailoux family. He is also survived by his brother, Buster Grant and wife, Violet, of Brownville; his sister, Jeanine Hayes of Missouri; sisters-in-law, Virginia Grant, Donna Grant, Rose Grant, and Helen Grant Henderson, all of Brownville, Marge Grant of Jay, Claire Grant of North Carolina, Eva Lambert and husband, Vance, of Charleston, Paula Copeland and companion, Claude Marquis, of Brownville, Penny Demers and companion, Scott Walton, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Lorraine Sinclair of Florida. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Roland Royal of Milo. Gary was blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren, Alyssa Wheeler of Guilford, Anisa, Megan, and Michael Witham of Milo, Ashton and Sarah Babin of Brownville, Trey Gilman and his parents, Melissa, and Travis Gilman, of Sebago; two special great-grandchildren, Hailee and Domenick Breton of Guilford; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Sinclair; brothers, Keith, Edward, Buddy, Martin, Stanley, Terry, and Eugene Grant; sister, Georgia Royal; and brother-in-law, Allen Sinclair.
Friends are invited to call 1 p.m. until time of a celebration of Gary’s life at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Brownville Junction United Methodist Church, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. Burial in the family lot at Brownville Village Cemetery will be in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Milo.
