BANGOR – Derek Arthur McLeod, 27, passed away unexpectedly March 12th, 2014. Derek was born in Bangor in 1986, and grew up in Old Town and Orrington. He attended Old Town High School where he participated in baseball and tennis, but his favorite sport was paintball.
He had a vast knowledge of computers and enjoyed building and repairing them for family and friends. He loved to read, draw, drive his car, ride his bike, play video games with friends and he especially loved to cook. Derek enjoyed the creativity he achieved while cooking, and he worked in this profession for many years perfecting his craft. Derek will sadly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was taken from us way too young, and though he battled with depression and other health issues for many years, he never gave up and maintained a positive attitude and outlook. He is finally at peace.
Derek is survived by his mother, Debbie Arsenault-York and her husband, Chris York of Orrington, father, William McLeod and his wife, Tina (Chesson) McLeod of Millinocket; three brothers, Christopher Dunbar, Barry McLeod, and Joshua Doane, his little sister, Cassidy McLeod, and many other cherished family members.
A celebration of his life will be held at the East Orrington Congregational Church, Sunday, March 23rd at 2pm.
