BANGOR — The Caring Connections Bone Health Information and Discussion Group will offer “An Introduction to Mindfulness” at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 25 at the Bangor YMCA, 17 Second St.

Susan Steele, FNP-C, will teach participants how to purposefully focus their attention on the present moment and how to live in a state of active, open attention. Participants can learn how to look at their thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them as “good” or “bad, and how to awaken to the experience that is their lives

Shoulder pain seminar

BANGOR — Eastern Maine Medical Center will offer a free seminar on the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of shoulder pain at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 250 Haskell Road.

“This seminar will be helpful for anyone who is experiencing shoulder soreness, weakness, stiffness, pain while sleeping, limited range of motion, or other types of shoulder pain,” said Jessica Aronowitz, MD, a shoulder specialist at EMMC Orthopedic Surgical Specialists. “We’ll discuss the various causes of shoulder pain and talk about non-surgical and surgical treatment options.”

In addition to Dr. Aronowitz, a physical therapist, family nurse practitioner, and staff from EMMC Orthopedic Surgical Specialists will be provide information and answer questions.

The seminar will begin with dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a presentation and question and answer session. Registration is required by visiting orthopedics.emmc.org or by calling 973-9980.
