Police: Jonesport marina ‘robbery’ was really a ‘complicated’ disagreement

By Tim Cox, BDN Staff

JONESPORT, Maine — A robbery that was reported at a marina turned out to be some type of dispute that appears to have been resolved, and no charges have been filed against any of the parties involved, Maine State Police reported Tuesday.

An unidentified man called emergency dispatchers shortly after noon on Friday and reported that he had been robbed by three men, and state police quickly responded.

At the same time, police were unable to immediately make contact with the man who called 911 to report the incident, said Lt. Roderick Charette with State Police in Ellsworth.

In fact, troopers had a description of the three men and their vehicle and located it in Addison before they were able to talk with the alleged victim, said Charette.

The alleged victim did not cooperate when officers questioned him, said Charette, and the other men — who returned money belonging to the alleged victim — had a different version of what transpired.

“By and large, nobody is really saying anything,” said Charette.

“It’s a very complicated investigation,” he added.

When an incident occurs, people under emotional stress may blurt out statements that are not entirely accurate, suggested Charette.

No weapon was used in the incident, and no injuries were reported. No charges have been filed.

The four men were not identified.
