Marvin R. Bolduc

WATERVILLE – Marvin R. Bolduc, 77, of Winslow, died unexpectedly Friday, March 14, 2014, at Woodlands Assisted Living in Waterville. He is now at peace with his beloved wife Nancy in Heaven and with his Lord and Savior watching over his family. Marvin was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Waterville, the son of Ludger and Lydia (Lacasse) Bolduc.
Marvin was a graduate of Thomas College class of 1958 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Yeoman for eight years. He worked at Wal-Mart as a greeter for more than 15 years where he loved to interact with all of his friends and neighbors in the community. Marvin was a devout Catholic as an active member of the St. John’s Parish in Winslow serving as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and as a member of the advisory board at Mt. Saint Joseph’s Nursing Home for six years.
Marvin was a very involved man in the Waterville Community beginning his professional career at Stern’s Department Store working his way to become both the store’s manager and controller during his 34 years of employment with the company. He was a member of the Waterville Lions Club and Knights of Columbus in Waterville and Winslow, receiving his third degree knighthood and the Emeritus Life Member Award. Marvin was a past president of Thomas College Alumni Association, Past Chairman of Distinguished Alumnus Awards Committee and was a member and treasure of the Waterville Area Humane Society from 1992-1999. He also was a member of the National Association of Accountants; serving as the Bangor-Waterville Chapter President in 1976-1977, served as member of the Maine Merchants Association and faithfully served as Board of Director and treasure of the Maine Sports Hall of Fame for 28 years.
Marvin’s integrity, sincerity, and loyalty are exemplified and amplified in several decades of interaction with his family, friends, business associates, and with all the people who have had the good fortune to know him. There are not enough adjectives to do justice to this truly fine man whose primary concerns have always been helping others first, especially a long life of ultimate devotion to his lovely wife Nancy.
Marvin is survived by his three daughters, Jody LaChance of Salem, N.H., Terry Mitchell and husband, Chuck, of Winslow, and Wendy Santos and husband, John, of Nashua, N.H.; two sons, Timothy Bolduc of Windham, and Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bolduc and wife, Rebecca, of Morehead City, N.C.; sisters-in law, Dot Muzerolle, Jean Bolduc, and Betty Soule; grandchildren, Tiffany Kay, Heather LaChance, Joshua Mitchell, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Lindsey Mitchell, Clay Bolduc, Matthew Bolduc, and Gregory Bolduc; and great-grandchildren, Arya Gordon-Mitchell, Zoie Gordon-Mitchell, and Andrew Kay.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Nancy A. Bolduc; and his two brothers, Ludger, and Roger Bolduc.
Visiting hours will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, at St. John Catholic Church, Monument Street, Winslow.
