VAN BUREN – John “The Cook” Cyr, 73, passed away on March 15, 2014, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born April 4, 1940, in Caribou, son of the late Robert and Isabelle (Levesque) Cyr.
John owned and operated John’s Restaurant for fifty years and was known for his famous chicken stew.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura “Coune” (Gagnon) Cyr of Van Buren; his daughter, Darlene Ouellette and her husband, Keith, of Van Buren; two grandsons, Chad Cyr, and Karson Ouellette both of Van Buren; five granddaughters, Tabitha of Minnesota, Linda of Van Buren, Tiffany of Massachusetts, Erica of Bangor, and Jessica of Van Buren; nine siblings; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Family and friends may call 10-10:45 a.m. Friday, at the church.
