Evelyn I. (McLaughlin) Day

EAST WINN – Evelyn I. (McLaughlin) Day, 66, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer, passed peacefully March 15, 2014, with her family by her side at a Bangor hospital. Evelyn was born May 6, 1947, in Carroll, daughter of Solomon and Florence (Cole) McLaughlin.
Evelyn graduated from Lee Academy and worked many years in food service as a cook at local schools. She loved working in her flower gardens and watching the many birds that came to her feeders. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with her husband. Evelyn will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
She will be sadly missed and is survived by her loving husband, Lewis of East Winn; a son, Philip Dill and wife, Sherry, of Lincoln; a daughter, Valerie and husband, Steve Thurlow, of East Winn; a stepson, Lewis Day Jr. of East Winn; a stepdaughter, Teri and her husband, Gerald Cleary, of East Winn; a brother, Frederick and wife, Joyce McLaughlin, of Webster; a sister, Mary Bailey of Bangor; a sister, Lottie Cleveland of Carroll; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Victoria, Shawn and wife, Stephanie, Gary and wife, Samantha, Caleb and wife, Britany, Zach and Jessica; and nine great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ashton, Avah, Brandon, Alyssa, Andrew, Aidan, Taylor, and Stevie. She was predeceased by her first husband, Grover L. Dill; a stepdaughter, Julie L. (Day) Krapf; a brother-in-law, James Cleveland; brother-in-law, Carl Bailey; a stepgrandson, Steven Krapf; and her brothers, Kenneth, Gerald, Leman, and Robert.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Dr. L. Harry Soucy officiating. Spring interment will be at Potter Brook Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in her memory to Cancer Care of Maine.
