PARIS, Maine — Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a Paris teen Saturday night on Buckfield Road.

Xavier Fuentes of Turner was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway where he was pronounced dead following the hit-and-run that occurred at about 8:30 p.m., according to a news release issued by Paris Police Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Lange.

The vehicle believed to have struck the youth had a plow attached to it, according to Lange.

The Sun Journal reports that police set up a roadblock Sunday evening with about a dozen local, state and county officers near the accident scene, checking vehicles for damage consistent with the hit-and-run and questioning drivers about their whereabouts at the time of the incident.

Fuentes’ grandmother, Janice Moore, posted a plea for information on Facebook. “Anyone knowing of someone with damage to their car in the area, please come forward,” Moore writes. “Please pass the word on we need to find the person that hit him.”

“If it was an accident or you hit something and didn’t realize what it was, please come forward. Will everyone please forward this and get the word out. $1,000.00 reward for information at this time.”

Anyone with information or any leads is encouraged to call the Paris Police Department at 207-743-7448 or email detective@parismaine.org.

The Paris Police Department was assisted by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police.
