Kathryn E. Brown

BAR HARBOR – Kathryn E. Brown, 91, died March 13, 2014, in Bar Harbor. She was born July 25, 1922, in Bar Harbor the daughter of John C. and Ray (Marshall) Etter.

Kathryn served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She received her Associate Degree from Maine School of Commerce and received her BA from the University of Maine in Home Economics. She was a homemaker until her children were grown and she then went to work with her husband at Brown’s Studio in Bar Harbor. Kathryn was very active in the Bar Harbor community as a girl scout leader in the mid 60s and she was a member of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church. Kathryn was a loving, mother, grandmother and friend.

Kathryn is survived by three daughters, Diane Henderson and husband, Max, of Steep Falls, Elizabeth B. Lord and husband, Edwin, of Levant, and Sharon B. McGarr and husband, Larry, of Bar Harbor; one son, Lee W. Brown and wife, Cindy, of Trenton; eight grandchildren, Edwin G. Lord III, Heather Kelly, Bryan N. Lord, Christopher L. McGarr, Karen Oakes, Daniel J. McGarr, Melissa Cady, and Jeremy L. Brown; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Jane (Brown) Siddiqui and family; a nephew, Randy Brown and family; and other nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, S. Wesley Brown Jr. in 2005; and by her brothers, Howard E., and J. Marshall Etter.

Graveside Services will take place in the spring at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
