Shapleigh man taken to hospital after Route 109 collision in York County

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

ACTON, Maine — A man was hospitalized Thursday morning after a collision on Route 109, police said.

Paul Jackson, 52, of Shapleigh was heading south on Route 109 when he was struck by a van driven by Brian Richards, 57, of Sanford, Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

Richards was apparently trying to turn left into the Acton Trading Post when he turned into the path of Jackson’s vehicle at approximately 9 a.m., King said.

Jackson’s Kia struck the van in the rear quarter panel, knocking Jackson unconscious, King said. He was transported to Goodall Hospital, and police did not disclose his condition.

Richards was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
