BRUNSWICK, Maine — Intruders broke into a Pleasant Hill Road on Wednesday afternoon, prompting police to call in a Freeport tracking dog to assist in searching for them.

Officers went to the home at 4:12 p.m. to find that it had been ransacked not long after the resident had left the property, according to Capt. Mark Waltz of the Brunswick Police Department.

Citing the ongoing investigation, Waltz declined to say what was taken from the home. He said suspects have been identified.

Waltz said it is unclear whether the door was unlocked at the time, but added, “There’s no particular reason to believe this is the beginning of a string of burglaries around town.”
